Although the Australian winter months are quiet when it comes to overseas Marathon Majors. July presents the perfect time to compete on home soil. This month I took part in the Gold Coast Marathon. The weather was perfect, the course smooth, and I had a great competitor in Japan’s Tsubassa Kina. I came in second place to Tsubassa in a time of 1.51.
Although not a major event on the calendar, competitions like this provide me with the opportunity to have a good hit out on closed roads, and keep race fit. We must take advantage of these opportunities as Australian racers are not presented with as many events to compete on home soil as their overseas counterparts.
