Cocoon SDA Care were a proud sponsor of the Skyring Wheelaroos (Australian Wheelaroos) when they represented Australia in the Rugby League World Cup 2022.
This was a special moment in sporting history. The team were part of the first occurrence ever of wheelchair rugby league being part of the main event.
A STRONG HISTORY IN SPORT
With a long history in sport, the Australian Wheelaroos have long been representing Australia in wheelchair rugby league. Previous games include England in 2013, France in 2017 and England again in 2019.
THE GAMES
Eight teams in total were in contention for the trophy, including Australia, England, France, Ireland, Scotland, Spain, U.S.A, and Wales.
The game began with an opening match to England on Thursday, 3 November 2022 at Copper Box Arena, London (8 Australia v 38 England). Next to play was Ireland on Sunday, 6 November 2022 with an outstanding victory (76 Australia v 18 Ireland). The game against Spain was held on Wednesday, 9 November 2022 with another victory (52 Australia v 32 Spain). After Spain, saw France and Australia fight hard for the world championships, with France taking out the trophy (40 Australia v 84 France).
THE SKYRING WHEELAROOS TEAM
The Skyring Wheelaroos are coached by Brett Clark (National Team Head Coach) and Edi George (National Assistant Coach & Tag Collector) and managed by David Nugent (National Team Manager).
The team played outstanding matches throughout the world cup, proudly representing Australia on a national sporting world stage.
